4th July 2009 - 'Cúig' exhibition of new work at Crawford College of Art.

A group show of new work from the five 'Cúig' artists will take place at Crawford College of Art & Design, Sharman Crawford St, Cork from July 4th till July 10th '09. The five artists have worked in a variety of mediums including dry point etching, drawing, painting & mixed media.

 

9th March 2009 - 'Cúig' Solo art exhibitions

Two members of the 'Cúig' artists in residence are currently holding solo exhibitions in Cork city centre locations.

A display of prints and drawings by Frankie Burton is running in the Pavilion bar, Carey's lane until the end of March '09.

Angela Burchill is exhibiting prints, drawings and mixed media pieces at the Quay Co-op restaurant, Sullivans Quay. This exhibition will run until the end of May '09.

 

9th December 2008 - Christmas Fundraiser

Mayfield Community Art Centre will host a Christmas fundraiser on Tues Dec 9th in the Pavilion, Carey's Lane, Cork with an exciting line up featuring Stanley Super 800 (country set), Aaron Dillon, live drumming by Cork Community Drummers, beatboxers, spot prizes & DJ Mike Daly till late.

Art work produced by artists in residence ‘Cúig', plus work donated by well known Cork artists will be up for auction on the night. MC is the man with the hat; Ronan Leonard. Doors will open at 8.30pm and tickets on sale at the door are E10

The ‘Cúig' group will exhibit their work downstairs in the Pavilion bar from Fri 5 th December and will be available for sale from midday on the 9th .

14 September 2008 - Art Trail 2008

The Cuig group have been chosen to participate in Art Trail 2008, an annual festival showcasing artwork in specific city locations.This year the Cork docklands will be the setting for the festival.

The five artists are currently working on a series of dry point prints, as well as posters & large boards based on images from the docklands which will be displayed outdoors along a special trail through the area.The trail will begin at Gallerie Nautique on Victoria rd. where a series of the artist’s prints will be exhibited and will conclude at the Cruibin bar/resturaunt on Union Quay where further pieces of the artists work will be on display.

The exhibition opens on Sep 29th at Gallerie Nautique & will run until Oct 6th.

12 September 2008 - ‘CUIG' Group News

The ‘Cuig’ artists in residence recently co-facilitated and participated in two workshops with groups from the National Learning Network (NLN) & Sophia Housing Association.

The five artists helped conduct a four week workshop in printmaking with the NLN participants and a week long puppetmaking workshop with parents and children from Sophia Housing.The art work from these workshops was displayed during the Art centre’s very successful “Globalfest’ youth arts festival which was held in July.
