AFTER SCHOOLS DEVELOPMENT EDUCATION PROGRAMME
SEP 2006- ONGOING

PROJECT SUMMARY
The After Schools programme is an ongoing programme of workshops at the Arts Centre. Young people come usually every Wednesday from 4:30– 6:30. The workshops focus on development issues but are led by the young people ideas and interests on this area. In 2007 we were lucky to have 2 Nicaraguan volunteers, Tania and Rafa, assisting in the delivery of these workshops
Global and local development issues are explored. Mural painting skills, drawing and sketching skills are learned. Murals have been painted on the themes of Identity and injustice.
From January to June 200 the young people explored the theme of Peace and painted a mural on canvas which was then hung along with 5 others at a bridge in Cork city centre on the June Bank Holiday weekend. This coincidedwith the annual Ocean to City Race and the murals marked the finish line for this race.
