YOUTH INITIATIVE COPE FOUNDATION HOLLYHILL

Mayfield Community Arts Centre supported a group of young adults from Hollyhill to carry out this Youth initiative project promoting the voluntary active participation of youth in their communties.

The project aimed to promote concepts of integration and social inclusion through art and culture. The theme of the project looked at our right to an identity and expressing, exploring and promoting this in the community.

The group of young adults from Hollyhill invited a local youth groups to join them in developing and exploring their knowledge of their identity, Cork, the culture and their environment through art. Through non formal learning engaged the wider community through sharing our experiences, enjoyment and benefits of working as an integrated group, We produced a video and "travelling" book which will documented the groups experiences and art work.

We visited local schools where the integrated group will share their experiences and invited the pupils to input and respond to the video documenting the project and the art work. The schools artwork was included in the book for exhibition.

The book was be launched in the city and travelled to different centres around Cork.
